3. What is Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT)?

Marriage and Family Therapy is a systemic approach to counseling that views challenges within the context of relationships and family dynamics. The focus is on understanding how patterns of interaction contribute to difficulties and how these patterns can be changed to improve individual and relational well-being.

4. Do both partners need to attend for couples counseling?

Ideally, both partners attend. However, if one partner is hesitant, it can still be helpful to begin counseling individually to work on relationship goals.

Sessions typically last 50-55 minutes. Most clients start with weekly or biweekly sessions and adjust frequency as progress is made.

6. How long does counseling typically take?

The length of counseling varies depending on your goals, the complexity of the issues, and your level of engagement. Some clients benefit from short-term counseling (8-12 sessions) focused on specific goals, while others prefer longer-term therapy for deeper exploration and support.

7. What is your approach to counseling?

We use evidence-based and client-centered approaches including Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and family systems approaches. We believe in providing a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe to explore challenges and build new ways of relating.
